Have you ever found yourself in such disagreement with someone you’ve wanted to “unfriend” them. “Unfriending” can take the actual form of blocking someone on social media—and it also symbolizes the distance and silence that forms over time between people. As core perspectives and experiences seem to divide us as a country, it is more important than ever to be able to stay in conversation with people and engage in civil dialogue, even when those interactions seem contentious.
“You Can’t Unfriend Everybody” is a workshop taking place online on Tuesday, October 20 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The session is part of this month’s Conflict Resolution Month series, co-sponsored by the Estes Valley Library and Estes Valley Restorative Justice Partnership.

Beth YoheBeth Yohe, Executive Director of The Conflict Center, will lead an interactive workshop outlining the variety of ways that we “unfriend” people, while exploring the skills that we can use on an everyday basis—such as reframing resistance, listening deeply, and navigating triggers, all while staying “in conversation”.
Yohe is a consultant and curriculum writer with over 20 years of experience delivering training programs on topics related to addressing bias, transforming conflict, and creating dialogue. She is involved nationally on issues related to conflict transformation, social justice, bullying prevention, and social-emotional learning. She has served on the Advisory Board for The Ad Council’s “Love has No Labels” campaign, the board of the International Bullying Prevention Association, and as a facilitator for the Social Justice Training Institute. She currently serves as Executive Director for The Conflict Center in Denver.
