As schools across Minnesota continue to welcome students back for in-person classes, Gov. Tim Walz is set to make an announcement Wednesday afternoon detailing the next steps for education amid COVID-19.
So far the governor and state health officials have relied on transmission rates in schools to determine Minnesota's course of action. Walz's office said 96% of public schools are part of a first-of-its-kind testing program that includes all schools already offering in-person classes. Those tests have shown the transmission rate among teachers is 0.37%.
