SAGINAW, MI — The Saginaw Economic Development Corp. is hosting a series of free virtual Business Plan Writing Workshops for small business owners and entrepreneurs throughout the month of October.
The virtual workshop series is scheduled to take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Wednesday in October beginning on Oct. 7. Organizers aim to encourage small business owners and entrepreneurs to “invest in your success” and think creatively about a business development plan, according to a city of Saginaw news release.
The virtual workshops will feature guest speaker Michelle McGregor, president/CEO of First Ward Community Center, be conducted via Webex, and are sponsored by SEDC and CRA Bankers Forum.
The event series will help people develop a business plan from the ground up, with new information introduced each week. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and receive assistance with developing a traditional business plan, the release states.
“A good business plan guides you through each stage of starting and managing your business. You’ll use your business plan as a roadmap for how to structure, run, and grow your new business," SEDC Coordinator Kisha Smith said in a statement. "Investors want to feel confident they’ll see a return on their investment. Your business plan is the tool you’ll use to convince people that working with you — or investing in your small business — is a smart choice. That’s why these free virtual workshops are so valuable for aspiring entrepreneurs and small business owners.”
Kanah Franklin, deputy director of community services, added, “Starting your own business may seem overwhelming and out of reach for many, but there are several helpful resources available through the Saginaw Economic Development Corporation. Our goal for this series is to help prepare local entrepreneurs for success.”
Saginaw City Manager Tim Morales said small businesses play an important role in the community.
“It’s exciting to see the economic development that has occurred in the city of Saginaw over the past few years. We want to see our local businesses succeed," Morales said in a statement. "This is an excellent opportunity for anyone who has a goal to start their own business and to learn more about the assistance offered through the SEDC and the City of Saginaw.”
