LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — The Clark County Education Association is accusing newly-elected school trustee Lisa Guzman of potential conflicts of interested and are asking for her to resign her union position or recuse herself from all votes involving unions that work with the school district.

The CCEA sent a strongly-worded letter to the Clark County School District on Monday, just hours before Guzman is scheduled to be sworn in as trustee.
According to the letter, Guzman is an employee of both the Nevada State Education Association and ether Education Support Employees Association.
CCEA says it intends to file a formal complaint with the Nevada Commission on Ethics if Guzman does not comply. The letter also faults Guzman with failing to consult with the ethics commission previously.

13 Action News reached out to Guzman for comment. She told us that she has already started the process with the CCSD board attorney and was waiting to be sworn in before turning in a request for review later this week.
She also pointed out that she has not been the executive director of ESEA since Dec. 1.
CCEA represents 19,000 licensed educators within CCSD.
