A suspected Baltimore gang leader died of a self-harm gunshot wound on Tuesday afternoon after a stalemate with law enforcement agencies in the suburbs of Atlanta, officials said.
Frank Renka, a spokesman for American Marshall Services, told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that he fired at American Marshall and police trying to arrest Gary Creek in a Sandy Springs condominium. Police broke into the house about three hours later and found the creek dead.
The Baltimore branch of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives tweeted that Creek “died after a self-harm gunshot wound in Atlanta after a hostage incident.”

Federal officials filed an arrest warrant on Friday. He did not surrender after 39-year-old Creek was nominated for extortion.
He and 14 other Triple C gang members or associates have been charged with 18 murders, 27 attempted murders, and the operation of a drug distribution “shop” on the streets of Baltimore, Maryland. The US Federal Attorney’s Office announced Thursday.
As of Friday, the creek was not last detained.
Prosecutors said they founded Triple-C, an abbreviation for “Cruddy Conniving Crutballs,” around 2015 after he left another gang. They said the gangster stores were heroin, fentanyl, and crack cocaine. It sells marijuana and other controlled drugs, and said members were involved in threatening witnesses, shooting, and killing members of rival gangsters.
Creek was charged in a federal criminal accusation in 2019 as a major supplier of drugs to gangsters and other drug trafficking organizations. In May 2020, he was released into home confinement due to a surge in COVID-19 cases in a prison in Washington, DC, where he was detained.

Police in Sandy Springs determined that Creek had a hostage in the apartment on Tuesday afternoon, and the SWAT team reported to the scene. Sandy Springs apartments are approximately 32 km (20 miles) north of downtown Atlanta.

The hostages were Creek’s girlfriends, but their identities were not revealed. Authorities said they were released safely and that police and bystanders were not injured. It was unclear if his girlfriend was a resident of the apartment.
