LITTLE ROCK (KATV) — A man was killed at a nightclub in Springdale, Arkansas after authorities said he aimed a gun at the club's security guard, our content partner 40/29 News reported.
According to Sergeant Matt Ray with the Springdale Police Department, officers were called to the Zabana Night Club around 2 a.m. on Sunday.
When officers arrived, they found 21-year-old Luis Steven Ogando Lopez with two gunshot wounds. Lopez was taken to an area hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries and died.
Ray said the initial investigation revealed that Lopez was kicked out of the establishment after causing issues. Lopez then went to a vehicle and retrieved a firearm, police said.
According to SPD, the shooting occurred after a security guard for the club confronted Lopez in the parking lot. Authorities said Lopez pointed his gun at the security guard, prompting the guard to shoot Lopez.
Ray said the guard remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
No arrests have been made at this time and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
