Curious why Davonte Robinson was not included in Kentucky football’s Senior Night festivities?
Because the senior safety isn’t ready to end his time as a Wildcat just yet.
After missing the 2019 season with a quadriceps injury and slowly working his way back to full strength in 2020, the Henry Clay product is planning to return for one final season at Kentucky, his sixth with the program.
“I hope so, yeah,” UK head coach Mark Stoops said following Kentucky’s 41-18 victory over South Carolina. “D-Rob and I did talk about that and that’s the plan right now.”
Robinson first arrived back in 2016, where he redshirted as a freshman. The 6-foot-2 defensive back followed it up with a 13-game campaign as a redshirt freshman, totaling 19 tackles in year two. Robinson then added 42 tackles, 3.0 TFL, four PBUs and two fumble recoveries in 13 games as a sophomore before tearing a quadriceps muscle in July of 2019, an injury that would keep him out the entirety of the 2019 season.
Back for his unofficial senior season in year five, Robinson managed 26 total tackles (19 solo) and 2.0 tackles for loss in ten games.
Now, the Lexington native will get one last shot at the college ranks in his return for a sixth year at Kentucky.
