Here are the questions we’re answering today:

1. What does Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine want to do about how police respond to protests? Gov. Mike DeWine has directed a state task force to develop minimum standards for how police should respond, plus he’s creating an Office of Law Enforcement Recruitment to encourage the recruitment and hiring of people of color for law-enforcement jobs.

2. What Northeast Ohio communities face big financial hurdles if people keep working from home beyond the coronavirus pandemic? Cleveland, Independence, Mayfield Heights and Solon all face big drops in income tax if employees working from home pay their home cities instead of the cities that house their offices. Some leaders think state law governing municipal income taxes should change to protect them.

3. Are prisoners vulnerable to the coronavirus in the federal prison in Elkton getting moved out or not? No. An appellate judge overturned an earlier ruling and sided in favor of the Federal Bureau of Prisons, saying its standard of care prevented inmates from suffering cruel and unusual punishment.

4. How does Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost want to investigate cases where police kill people? Yost said he will ask state lawmakers to change Ohio law and require every police department in the state to have a use-of-force policy. He’ll release more details this week.
