Late last week, President Donald Trump signaled his intent to remove State Inspector General Michael Linick by sending a letter to Nancy Pelosi. Since then, the president has said that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo recommended the removal and Pompeo himself has defended the move. But critics see a pattern in the administration of rejecting independent oversight.
