Civil Peace Service (CPS) Advisor (m/f/d) for Conflict Sensitive Journalism and Dialogue

Job description
GIZ’s Civil Peace Service (CPS) programme „Systematic strengthening and linking of local and national potentials for peace in a post-conflict phase” in Nepal aims at creating spaces for non-violent conflict transformation. It does so through support to dialogue forums, community mediation, Nonviolent Communication and theatre for conflict transformation. CPS further works with local actors to promote holistic approaches to Dealing with the Past, that promote justice, reconciliation and healing. In order to promote local peace structures, the CPS Thematic Team on Dialogue for Conflict Transformation cooperates with partner organizations based in Nepal’s southern Terai region. This cooperation focuses on capacity building in order to strengthen the expertise of partner organizations to conduct professional dialogue work at the local and district levels.

Your tasks
- Conceptualize a training curriculum for conflict sensitive journalism and media trainings and facilitate trainings on the same to identified partners and stakeholders
- Capacity building of partners and stakeholders relating to conflict sensitivity, conflict transformation, dialogue and promotion of conflict-sensitive journalism on local, regional and national level
- Support different partner organizations in initiating and implementing dialogue initiatives
- Support and initiate networking and professional exchange of partner organizations and other peace organizations in the field of dialogue and conflict-sensitive journalism work in Nepal
- Identify needs of support to CPS partner organisations with regard to external visibility, public relations and provide support based on their needs
- Identify potential new partner organizations and new geographical areas in the area of conflict-sensitive journalism and conduct project appraisal missions together with the national peace advisor

Your profile
- University degree in peace and conflict studies, journalism, media, communication, social work, social science, development studies, or related field
- Expertise and practical experience in the areas of dialogue and / or conflict sensitive journalism/peace journalism
- Expertise and experience with online media and digital communication tools as well as international working experience in conflict transformation and peacebuilding
- Familiarity with project planning, monitoring and evaluation
- Professional experience in a (post-)conflict context and working experience in Asia; Nepal country experience with a focus on working in Terai is of added value
- Experience in designing, conceptualizing, and facilitating trainings using innovative, creative and participatory methods
- Fluency in English and the willingness to learn Nepali; German language skills are an asset
